    Development Manager

    Endy is looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead our company’s talented team of web developers and own the technical improvements of our eCommerce website. In this role, you will be leading our Web Team and also work closely with our eCommerce Manager to deliver features and initiatives that capture emerging trends in the eCommerce space.

    Our ideal candidate is passionate about building teams and solutions that scale. You must have strong communication skills and a desire to solve problems, manage risk, drive innovation, and champion collaborative decision-making. You will lead planning, resourcing, and estimating projects, while providing mentorship and growth opportunities for your team. You will also collaborate across different crafts and department leads to understand project objectives, refine feature requirements, and make well-reasoned technical decisions based on scope, complexity, and resources.

    This is a 14-month contract position with the possibility of an extension/permanent position at the end of the contract period.

    What you'll do

    • Be accountable for driving solution development and overseeing the management of product content
    • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to enable teams to deliver solutions that meet business requirements and serve our diverse customer base
    • Monitor competitive websites, industry trends, new technology, digital services and recommend investment in best-in-class 3rd party tools ensuring that Endy is staying on the forefront of industry standards
    • Evolve our CMS to ensure it continues to be performant, easy to use, and meet our business needs
    • Be a mentor to your team and help them achieve their career goals through coaching, regular feedback, and helping them take on projects aligned to their strengths, skills, and professional goals
    • Develop and facilitate team rituals like project retrospectives, hackathons, and lunch and learns
    • Contribute to the effective selection, hiring, and onboarding for new developers. Build teams that are inclusive, collaborative, and respectful of each other
    • Contribute to code reviews with constructive feedback, oversee coding process to produce clean code with a focus on maintainability, scalability, improving performance, and managing technical debt
    • Provide visibility into the team's impact and priorities to senior leadership

    Who you are

    • 4+ years technical experience in a production development environment, with experience leading a team of developers
    • Strong technical roots with Javascript, HTML, CSS, and modern front end frameworks such as React
    • Experience with Typescript, Next.js, Vercel,, Liquid, and Shopify is a plus
    • Champion for AODA standards and industry best practices
    • Comfortable being hands-on and contributing to code when needed
    • Passion for coaching and mentorship
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills. You've got experience managing projects that have multiple stakeholders, and keeping them informed and aligned. You help "connect the dots" between technical and non-technical teams, remain open to ideas from other leads, and speak up whenever you anticipate roadblocks
    • Ability to methodically manage team workload, tech debt, and self-organize multiple tasks while completing them in a timely manner
    • Attention to detail: Patience, laser-focus, and an ability to look at your own work with an objective eye
