The Endy Book Club - A Boy at the Edge of the World, David Kingston Yeh

    June 7, 2019

Growing up is all about changes, and in A Boy at the Edge of the World, author David Kingston Yeh crafts a modern coming-of-age story that encompasses the thrills and lessons of relationships and growing up. A Boy at the Edge of the World follows David Garneau, your average, gay, hockey-playing teenager who has moved from Sudbury to Toronto for university. His adventures are comedic and tragic as he tries to navigate the challenges of intimacy, sex, and love, documenting the experience of a young man on the edge of heteronormative society.

For Pride Month, join our VP of Customer Experience, Tom Doulos, with this amazing read.

P.S. Remember to send us your thoughts as you read along! At the end of the month, we’ll reveal who and what book will be featured in July, so stay tuned to our social pages for more details!

When I volunteered to choose the book being featured for June and Pride month, I wanted to showcase a Canadian author that wrote with LGBTQ2S issues in mind. Being a part of that community and David Kingston Yeh being from the neighbourhood I grew up in, I also wanted something that would speak to my past. A Boy at the Edge of the World was originally recommended to me by a coworker and its title immediately spoke to me. Was it about my youth and my challenges growing up? I’ll have to read and see. I’m excited to find out and I hope you are too.

A Boy at the Edge of the World is a coming-of-age dramedy that follows Daniel Garneau, a gay, hockey-playing teenager who has recently moved to Toronto for university and gets caught up in a love triangle featuring an old and new love. Spanning five years, readers get to follow Daniel as he journeys through the trials and tribulations of dating and relationships.

A Toronto-based LGBTQ counsellor, short story writer and playwright, A Boy at the Edge of the World is David Kingston Yeh’s debut novel. He is originally from Kingston, Ontario.
