Growing up is all about changes, and in A Boy at the Edge of the World, author David Kingston Yeh crafts a modern coming-of-age story that encompasses the thrills and lessons of relationships and growing up. A Boy at the Edge of the World follows David Garneau, your average, gay, hockey-playing teenager who has moved from Sudbury to Toronto for university. TOM, WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO READ A BOY AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD?
When I volunteered to choose the book being featured for June and Pride month, I wanted to showcase a Canadian author that wrote with LGBTQ2S issues in mind. Being a part of that community and David Kingston Yeh being from the neighbourhood I grew up in, I also wanted something that would speak to my past. A Boy at the Edge of the World was originally recommended to me by a coworker and its title immediately spoke to me. Was it about my youth and my challenges growing up? I’ll have to read and see. I’m excited to find out and I hope you are too.
