Six Things to Do With Dad This Father's Day
Alex Quaresma | Jun. 5, 2018
Is it just us, or are dads notoriously hard to shop for? That’s why this Father’s Day we say skip the ties and history books and spend some quality time with dad instead. We want to help make the day memorable, so we’ve compiled a list of six activities to make any dad’s day on June 17th. You should probably still get him a card, though.
1. GET SOME FRESH AIR
From Newfoundland to British Columbia, this country is filled with national parks perfect for a hiking trip. You can plan your trip using Parks Canada’s handy park finder.
2. STAY HYDRATED
Whether dad’s got the thrills for the pils(ner), or is more of a stout man, treat him to a cold glass of Canadian craft beer at your local brewery or pub. We’re big fans of Bandit Brewery in Toronto, and 33 Acres in Vancouver. Walter Craft Caesar Mix is a great option for dads who prefer their drinks a little spicy - this mix is proudly crafted in small batches here in Canada.
3. GET COMPETITIVE
Suns out, sticks out. Gather family and friends for a road hockey tournament. You can document every moment with retro photos taken with a Fujifilm Instax camera to add to dad’s photo collection on the fridge.
Brunch isn’t just for Mother’s Day; take dad out for a morning of delicious bacon and maple syrup. Or, better yet, make him brunch yourself. Bacon and eggs is a classic, but we’re big fans of this bacon and cheddar frittata recipe, courtesy of Seasons & Suppers.
5. MOVIE NIGHT IN
We recommend Blade Runner 2049 or Goon, plus all of Dad’s favourite snacks. Keep it low-key and easy.
6. LET DAD SLEEP IN
What does dad really want that he doesn’t get enough of? Sleep! (Preferably on an Endy mattress!)
BONUS: TAKE DAD OUT TO THE BALL GAME
If you’re in Toronto, the Jays are playing the Washington Nationals at the SkyD---Roger’s Centre at 1:07pm on Father’s Day.
